CO2 Bleph
Unlike a “cold steel” blepharoplasty, a CO2 laser procedure is non-invasive. There is no surgery taking place, only a laser treatment. CO2 laser treats the skin by removing/ablating damaged skin and stimulating new collagen production as heat energy is delivered.
CO2 Bleph Pre-Care
7-28 DAYS PRIOR TO TREATMENT:
Moisturize skin at least 2x a day (AM/PM)
Increase water intake to a minimum of 8 glasses of water per day.
Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.
Use a Zinc Oxide sunscreen of at least SPF 30+
*We will not treat skin if it is burned or otherwise compromised during this prep time*
3-7 DAYS PRIOR TO TREATMENT:
Stop any topical retinoid therapy 3-4 days prior to treatment.
If you have a history of cold sores or HSV1 you need to start your antiviral prophylaxis 5 days prior to procedure.
Stay out of the sun.
CO2 Bleph Post Care
Post Care Treatment for your CO2 Blepharoplasty
Please ensure you are following these instructions for safe and proper healing:
-Please start to use the provided eye drops every hour for the first day
-If you wear contacts please do not insert them until the 2nd day, continue with glasses till then
-You will notice your vision may seem a little bit blurry but that is due to dryness, add drops as often as needed for the first 2 days
-You may also experience redness to your eyes which is also due to dryness, add drops as needed
-Please do not rub, itch or scratch at your eyes as this is part of the healing process
-You can apply a clean ice pack to your eyes to help reduce swelling as needed
-Expect eyes to be extra swollen for the first 3 days
-No makeup to be applied to the eyes for a full 7 days
-Occasional blanching (whiteness to the skin) is normal as CO2 pulls water from the skin, which causes swelling
-Begin washing your eyes/face with cool water and a gentle cleanser on day 2
-Apply a small/thin amount of Vaseline or Aquaphor to the upper and lower eye lids for the first 3-4 days to protect the skin and retain moisture.

CO2 Bleph Consent
Informed Consent for use of Intraocular Eye Shields
The CoolPeel Blepharoplasty is a procedure that requires the insertion of medical intraocular shields in order to protect your eye from the CO2 beam.
Laser shields are intended to protect the eyes during IPL and laser procedures close to the eyes and/or on the face. They are inserted under the eyelids, on the ocular globes for the duration of the procedure.
Shields will only be left in place for less than 30minutes at any given time.
Prior to insertion you will receive an ophthalmic topical anesthetic and erythromycin ointment (if allergic please notify provider) to help prevent any eye injury.
Risks include:
Infection – Ablative lasers pass the top layer of the skin which can cause a risk for infection. Please follow post care instructions and monitor skin for a proper healing process.
Eye Injury — Eye injuries may result from numbing cream getting into the eyes. Corneal abrasion and/or soft tissue injury due to insertion and removal of intraocular eye shields. Dehydration of the eyes by not following the protocol of post care. If shield moves out of place risk of vision changes can occur.
Severe and Rare Risks: Corneal Damage, double vision and loss of vision.
This is an elective procedure. You do not have to proceed unless you are comfortable with the healing process and possible risks.
